It is known that Malaysians’ favorite greeting is “where to lepak?”. Locals in Malaysia love to catch up with each other over meals. With inexpensive yet appetizing food, the mamak has become a popular hangout spot where the local people of all walks of life go to eat and sit together for hours while talking, gossiping and watching football matches together. This is a unique tradition of Malaysian.

While mamak joints can be found all over the region, we’ve discovered the one and only mamak restaurant in Dungun, Terengganu called Salamath. It makes Salamath Restaurant special because it is the only mamak restaurant that has been put in place for more than 10 years in Dungun. The name of Salamath was derived from the owner’s ides-Mr Yusuf. The owner simply chooses the name with no apparent reason.

So what’s so special about Salamath?

Foods that we ordered, the highly requested by customers

Drooling Mutton Curry
 Nasi Briyani Kambing

This mamak serves a variety of food ranging from typical mamak food to a remarkable selection of Malaysian favourites & exciting fusion dishes originating from the best of Indian Muslim cultures.

This heavenly dish- Nasi Briyani Kambing consist of aromatic briyani rice, tasteful mutton curry and vegetable acar. When you eat the briyani rice it is not dry and it is packed with a lot of flavours that lingers in your taste bud. Most of the briyani rice you must add a lot of curries to make it complete but this briyani rice can stand on its own. For the curry, it is not too watery and it is rich with spices and flavours that can help the strong smell of mutton disappear. The mutton slides off easily from our spoon and it is the most tender and juicy mutton we ever had in our life. We also eat it with vegetable acar that make a flavour town in our mouth complete.
